According to the Government Decision Nr. 269 from April 18, 2013, the Institute of Economy, Finance and Statistics, was reorganized and renamed into the National Institute for Economic Research.
The Institute of Economy, Finance and Statistics (IEFS) has the pleasure and honor of inviting you to take part in the Eighth edition of the International Conference on Theoretical and Applied Economic Practices „Economic Growth in Conditions of Globalization”, which will be held on October 17-18, 2013.
Conference sessions will take place in the building of IEFS, Chisinau, 45 Ion Creanga street.

The Pennsylvania State Senator, Mr. Mike Brubaker from the 36th Legislative District will make an official visit to Republic of Moldova from 22 to 28 July, 2013 afforded by the Legislative Fellows Program, managed by American Councils, whose main objective is to enable Fellows to share their knowledge and experience with peers in Eurasia and America.
Chairing the State Finance Committee since 2011, Mr. Mike Brubaker would meet during the visit the representatives of the financial and main and regional tax authorities, as well as of other important structures representing the cultural, legislative and economic areas of the country.
To discuss from a scientific perspective the patterns and potential of Republic of Moldova – United States of America economic relations, the National Institute for Economic Research is pleased to invite all interested persons to attend the roundtable “Economic relations between Republic of Moldova and USA: achievement, challenges and perspectives”, with the participation of Mr. Mike Brubaker and the experts of the main Moldovan research organizations.

On February 27, 2013 at the Institute of Economy, Finance and Statistics (IEFS), Dr. Ricardo GIUCCI (Head of German Economic Team (GET) in Moldova) had a presentation in the frame of the workshop entitled “Euro zone crisis and its impact on Moldova ".

On February 13, 2013, a public presentation of the Strategy of socio-economic development of Hincesti District 2013-2020 was held in the Academy of Sciences.
The event was attended by Mr. Gheorghe Duca, academician, the president of ASM, Mr. Grigore Cobzac, President of the Hiceşti District Council, representatives of the academia, Agency for Regional Development and local authorities from Hincesti, Orhei, Falesti, Anenii Noi and mass media.
Workshop for defining the vision and strategic directions for its implementation
Team of experts from the IEFS participated in the pre-final stage of drafting of the socio-economic development strategy of Hincesti entitled "District Hincesti in 2020". The objective of this phase was to define a shared vision of civil society with regard to the development of Hincesti district and defining of strategic priorities needed to be followed to achieve the vision.
On December 19, 2012, the Institute of Economy, Finance and Statistics was visited by a delegation of seven people from the Chinese Academy for Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation as well as several people from the Embassy of China in the Republic of Moldova. Among them were listed Mr. Xu Tongkai, economic and trade advisor at the Embassy of China in the Republic of Moldova, Mr. Pen Tzini-Tze, Second Secretary, Embassy of China in the Republic, Mr. Ren Hongbin, executive vice president, Chinese Academy of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation, Wang Lie, Chinese Academy of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation, etc.
On December 18 -19, the pre-phase of the Moldova-Netherlands Project on "Decentralization: local aspects of collaboration" began. This project will include 3 stages and aims at training trainers in the area of decentralization of decision-making process at local level, mainly in the field of youth policies and practices (Coordination and Collaboration in decentralized, community based (Youth) policy and Practice).
The event was attended by scientific collaborators from IEFS. The course was held by Mr. Frans Albert Grobbe, expert from the Netherlands, AO Foundation, in the framework of the grant from the Netherland Fellowship Programmes NFP / Tailor Maid trainning.
The following topics were discussed:
- Status and goals of decentralization (implementation order)
- Status and definitions of (local) self-government.
- Role of IEFS in the process of decentralization and public policy.
- Scope of ‘Youth Policy’ in Moldova, s.a.
On December 25, the festive meeting of the Supreme Council for Science and Technological Development was held. During the event, certificates were handed to new members and corresponding members of ASM, and prizes of the Academy of Sciences were awarded.
From the Institute of Economics, Finance and Statistics, 2 persons were awarded this year, both in the category "Valuable scientific achievements of the young scientists ": Dr. Marcel Chistruga and Dr. Lilia Ghitiu. The award has been handed by Mr. Chiril Lucinschi, Chair of the Parliamentary commission Culture, Education, Research, Youth, Sports and Media.
The ceremony was attended by Mr. Prime Minister Vladimir Filat, ASM members, members of the Supreme Council for Science and Technological Development, directors, deputy directors, etc.
The event was also attended by media representatives.
